E6 is a European long distance path crossing Europe from Finland to
Greece. The Greek section crosses northern Greece from the port of
Igoumenitsa by the Ionian sea to Alexandroupoli near the border with
Turkey, and is more than 1000km long. On the route from the port of
Igoumenitsa to the eastern border of Greece, the E6 European Hiking Path
passes through the Metsovo area. Two of its most interesting sections
are located around Metsovo,in areas that have been chosen for their
natural beauty and for the existence of large and distinct paths.
E6 traverses almost the entire crest of mount Voio and reaches Pentalofos from Samarina via Taliaro and Zouzouli. The big path Pentalofos-Nea Kotili is part of the main body of E6 in its entirety, which continues downhill after Nea Kotili to Nestorio, to reach Kastoria and the Prespa lakes. In Pentalofos it divaricates, crossing the low hill chain of Voio along the path Vythos-Avgerinos.
The trail is part of the international path E6 which starts from the village of Livaditi and, crossing a beautiful beach forest filled with streams of running water, it leads to the waterfall of Livaditis.
